Walking for Hope: Montréal’s Annual Alzheimer’s Walk Marks 22 Years

Each May, Canadians unite for an important cause that impacts thousands of lives across the world: memory care. This year, the Montréal Walk for Alzheimer’s celebrates its 22nd anniversary, bringing together thousands in support of those living with Alzheimer’s and other neurocognitive disorders to raise awareness and impact change.

What started as a local initiative has grown into a nationwide movement, reaching more than 250 communities across the country. But the annual event is about more than crossing the finish line—it’s about showing up for loved ones, raising awareness, highlighting personal stories in memory care, and supporting critical services that make a meaningful impact in dementia communities.

Participants come with a wide range of stories—from families honoring loved ones, to caregivers and healthcare workers, to advocates pushing for better care and dignity in aging. Every step sends a message of hope and support, whether taken in Montréal or in honor of a team online.

Funds raised through this event directly support local programs and services for people living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, helping provide more personalized and compassionate care.

At Silverts, we see firsthand how adaptive solutions, such as our adaptive clothing, can enhance dignity and independence for both loved ones and their support team. For this reason and so many others, we are so proud to support the Montréal Walk for Alzheimer’s, including by providing gift certificates for participants to better help families access adaptive clothing to make everyday life just a little bit easier.

For our team, it’s so much more than an event. Walking for Hope is a step toward better care, stronger communities, and a future filled with more understanding and support.
