Rehabilitation Checklist: What Items to Pack for Your Stay

  • Save

When you are moving to a rehabilitation center, certain items are critical for success.  You should bring items that will make you feel comfortable as well. Below is your rehabilitation checklist that will benefit your stay as well as some items that you might want for a more enjoyable stay.

Recommended Items:

  • Comfortable Shoes:
    • Having proper footwear is essential during the rehabilitation process. It’s important that your shoes are comfortable, but also provide the right support for your needs. If your rehabilitation involves a lot of walking, a reliable runner is best. Often times, facilities will require a closed back slip resistant slipper to avoid falls.
  • Clothing:
    • Bring a variety of clothing that includes comfy to athletic wear. You will need clothing that is easy to put on, elasticized pants or side opening pants can be very beneficial, sweat pants or a favourite T-shirt is always a nice to have to feel more at home. Be sure to ask your doctor if your stay will require any specific types of clothing. Pajamas, socks and underwear are also important to bring. You may be required to wear a hospital gown after surgery, click here to see some comfortable open-back nightgowns.
  • Toiletries:
    • Your toothbrush, hairbrush, deodorant and any other personal hygiene products that you normally use are always important. You can potentially get these items through the facility, but it is always better to be prepared and bring your own.

Things to avoid bringing:

  • Valuables:
    • Jewelry can be a nuisance to have on during exercises as well as you risk losing them during your stay. Any large sums of money can often be risky,  so be sure to keep a small amount during your stay.

Getting better is your main goal. Bring items that will help your well being during your stay to ensure the fastest recovery. This rehabilitation checklist is to prepare you for your stay, but contacting the facility prior to your check in is important and beneficial.
